Search warrant leads to drugs, evidence of animal cruelty

On 7/7/14 investigators with the Statesboro-Bulloch Crime Suppression Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the 100 block of West Jones Avenue, Statesboro, based on evidence of drug sales from that location.  Two occupants of the residence, later identified as Ray Walker Jr (37 yoa, Moore Rd, Portal Ga) and Demetrius Millen (32 yoa, Miller St Extension, Statesboro Ga), fled on foot but were apprehended.  The search warrant yielded multiple bags of cocaine, marijuana, and MDPV, also known by the street name “Molly” and similar to MDMA or “Ecstasy”.

In addition to the drug found, investigators also located three injured dogs and equipment consistent with the use of these dogs for fighting.  Bulloch County Humane Enforcement responded to the location and removed the injured animals.  This phase of the investigation is ongoing.

Walker is charged with 1 ct Possession of Cocaine with Intent, 1 ct Possession of Marijuana with Intent, 1 ct Possession of MDPV a/k/a “Molly”, 1 ct Tampering with Evidence, 1 ct Aggravated Cruelty to Animals, 2 cts Cruelty to Animals, 1 ct Obstruction, and 1 ct Possession/Use of a Drug Related Object.  Millen is charged with identical offenses.  Both remain at the Bulloch County Jail pending further judicial action.
