Meth lab discovered in Northside Drive apartment

On 10/16/13 investigators with the Bulloch County Drug Suppression Team received information that a white male, later identified as Danny Ray Berry, was in the process of purchasing components used to manufacture methamphetamine, specifically lye.  Investigators set up surveillance and were able to conduct a traffic stop on Berry’s vehicle on Northside Drive East at Zetterower Avenue.  Subsequent interviews and investigation led investigators to conduct a search of Berry’s apartment in the 300 block of Northside Drive East where a methamphetamine lab was discovered.  Other tenants of the building reported smelling strange odors in the area in past days, presumably from the meth manufacturing.  Berry was transported to the Bulloch County Jail where he was charged with 1 count of criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine, 1 count of unlawful possession of ephedrine or pseudoephedrine, 1 count of criminal attempt to manufacture methamphetamine within 1000 ft of a school zone (Statesboro High School), and probation violation.  He is currently held without bond pending further judicial action.
