Two arrested for attempting to smuggle contraband into Correctional Institute

Staff members at the Bulloch County Correctional Institute received information that family members of an inmate would make an attempt to place contraband tobacco at a work site for that inmate to pick up while on a work detail.  BCCI staff members contacted the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office Drug Suppression Team for assistance in investigating the incident.  BCDST investigators were able to identify Frederick Harris and Carolyn Harris of Albany as the persons responsible for dropping off the contraband items.  The inmate, John Harris, was charged after he recovered the contraband and attempted to bring it back inside the Correctional Institute.  Warrants were issued for Frederick and Carolyn Harris and the couple was arrested with the assistance of law enforcement in Dougherty County Ga. They were returned to the Bulloch County Jail where they later posted bond and were released.  Biographical data on the arrestees follows:
